welcome back to the blog! it's a new year, so i'm re-committing myself to utilizing this space to share some behind the scenes in my creative life. i've had a very complicated and emotionally exhausting past year, and i'm in the home stretch of moving past it (thank you upcoming year of the fire horse)!!

✦︎ big life update!!

so anyway, i have big news that i haven't shared yet. i recently received news that i was accepted into the Art Institute of Chicago! i'll be moving over there in the fall to start my new life in the big city :D i can't express how excited and lucky i feel to be able to pursue this opportunity!! my friend and I (@gwillie.art on instagram) took a trip up there last weekend to see the museum and to take a class they offered me, and we had a blast! there's something about that city that just makes my little heart so happy. i've included some pictures i took on my digital camera, as well as some of my favorite pieces from the museum.

speaking of digital camera, i'm well aware of the growing restlessness among the people concerning living and growing up in a digital age. i know that people are trying to get away from technology by returning to physical media, like carrying notebooks around, physical music, reading physical books and magazines, and detaching from social media. i think it's fantastic, and i'm happy more people are realizing the harmful effects of starting at a screen for most of your waking hours. for me, i'm utilizing these practices in my everyday life, by taking a little notebook with me everywhere and taking pictures with my childhood digital camera instead of my phone. luckily, i have people around me that are doing the same, and i can confirm it makes life a lot more bearable AND i feel more organized! if you're considering the switch, i highly recommend it, especially if you're raising a child in these trying times.

✦︎ future projects

one of my resolutions for the new year is to make a physical photo book for every month filled with pictures from my digital camera. on that note, i'll be working on a "reincarnation of finn young" art show book highlighting all the pieces, poems, and songs that were in the show! of course, i'll be posting about it on instagram as i work on it to gauge interest, but i think it could be a memorable token for anyone who got to see the show, as well as for anyone who didn't. another one of my goals is to reactivate the newsletter, and send monthly prints/ zines to subscribers! they will contain my favorite pieces from the month, including photos, poems, shop discounts, and art updates, so be on the lookout for that.

i'm excited to be back and to put my energy into this again! Ethereal is my little baby, and all your support means the world to me. i love you all, talk soon ₊˚⊹♡
